Testing and Certification System

• The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) has promoted the testing and certification system for railway products since 2020 and added Article 19-1 of Railway Act to regulate products for railway applications, designated by the MOTC, shall be used in railways only after they have been tested or certified by the Testing and Certification Bodies recognized by the MOTC. MOTC expects this system will be helpful to promote the development of railway industry in Taiwan, enhance the independent capabilities of key technologies, accelerate the standardization of industrial technology, ensure railway safety and service quality, improve the market mechanism and integrate with international standards.
• MOTC will request Testing and Certification Bodies to obtain accreditation in compliance with international or national standards to ensure that reports or certificates they issue are credible and comply with international trade practices.
