In October 2018, Kaohsiung Station began its operations. The slightly arched canopy supported by the metal truss is 67 meters high. The large and small oval reflectors on the ceiling look like the clouds reflecting the light gently onto the ground.

The station exterior is inspired by Mount Kavulungan, also called Dawushan, and the sea. It represents scenery at the starting point of the Taiwan Railway Administration's Western Line.
